Second Aid is freely available for personal use. Organisations that wish to provide Second Aid as an official workplace, institutional or public-facing support resource can obtain a licence. Licensing enables authorised organisational deployment through Second Aid QR codes and links.
Personal Use
Individuals can access Second Aid without purchasing a licence. Personal users can visit secondaid.com and use the available support exercises. The public service does not require an account or payment before accessing its core support features.
Organisational deployment is treated separately. An organisation that wishes to formally provide Second Aid to employees, students, patients, customers or other covered users should obtain an appropriate organisational licence.
Who Needs a Licence?
Second Aid offers organisational licensing for settings including:
- Businesses and employers.
- Schools and universities.
- Hospitals and healthcare providers.
- Government and public-service bodies.
- Charities and nonprofit organisations.
- Community facilities.
- Other organisations wishing to provide official Second Aid access.
An organisational licence permits the service to be made available within the licensed setting, subject to the applicable terms. Pointing an individual to the free public website is not the same as deploying Second Aid as an official organisational resource; official deployment, using Second Aid kits, QR codes and links, requires a licence.
The current licence terms define the scope of permitted organisational use.
What a Licence Includes
The Second Aid organisational package is designed to provide the components needed for formal deployment.
-
Official Digital Licence
The organisation receives a digital licence identifying its authorised use of Second Aid for the purchased term. The licence establishes the relevant organisational rights and conditions.
-
Custom Second Aid QR Code
The organisation receives a QR code associated with its licensed deployment. The code can be printed and displayed in approved locations. Scanning it provides access to the Second Aid application.
-
Custom Second Aid Link
A custom link provides an alternative way to access the licensed Second Aid experience. It can be distributed through appropriate internal or organisational communication channels.
-
Organisational Branding
Licensed deployments can present the organisation's name or identity within the Second Aid experience. This allows users to recognise that the organisation has made Second Aid available as part of its support infrastructure.
-
Aggregate Reporting
Licensed organisations receive live aggregate usage data: use by week, day and hour, live rankings of the types of distress selected, and the percentage of users requiring further support. This helps organisations understand how their deployment is being used.
Such reporting should not be confused with access to identifiable individual mental-health records. The availability and exact scope of reporting features are subject to the current service configuration and licence terms.
Licence Scope
Each licence covers a named organisation for a fixed term. The licence is sized to the organisation, so the measure of size depends on the organisation type. For example:
- Companies
- Coverage may be based on the number of employees.
- Education
- Coverage may include staff and students.
- Healthcare
- Coverage may include staff and the patient population served.
- Public services
- Coverage may account for staff and relevant service users or site capacity.
During purchase, the organisation simply selects the size band that applies to it.
Licences are generally non-exclusive and non-transferable and do not transfer ownership of the Second Aid service or its intellectual property.
Pricing
The price of a licence depends on the organisation type, its size and the licence term. Available terms are:
- 1 year
- 3 years
- 5 years
For companies, pricing is set by number of employees, starting at $300 for a 1-year licence. Current pricing:
| Employees | 1 year | 3 years (−10%) | 5 years (−20%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1+ | $300 | $810 | $1,200 |
| 100+ | $1,200 | $3,240 | $4,800 |
| 500+ | $3,000 | $8,100 | $12,000 |
| 2,000+ | $8,000 | $21,600 | $32,000 |
| 10,000+ | $15,000 | $40,500 | $60,000 |

| 100,000+ | $75,000 | $202,500 | $300,000 |
Second Aid costs around $1 per employee per year, and as low as $0.60 per employee per year.
Subsidised pricing may be available to eligible organisations, including education, healthcare, public-service and nonprofit institutions. Current prices for every organisation type are shown on secondaid.com/license.

Renewals & Changes
Second Aid licences operate for a fixed term. The published Terms of Service state that licences do not automatically renew. Organisations wishing to continue after expiry must purchase or extend their licence through the available renewal process.
If an organisation grows beyond its licensed size band, or changes through expansion or restructuring, it should check that its licence still covers it under the current licence terms.
Licence Terms
The formal licence conditions are governed by Second Aid's Terms of Service. These cover matters including:
- Permitted organisational use.
- Licence duration.
- Coverage and non-transferability.
- Fees and applicable taxes.
- Renewals.
- Intellectual property.
- Suspension and termination.
- Liability and other contractual conditions.
The informational material on IMHI explains the licensing model but does not replace the legally applicable terms.
